Ukambani leaders won’t support Raila – Kitui Senator answers Ngilu

Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua has dismissed calls by Governor Ngilu that leaders from Ukambani region should work with Raila Odinga ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Last week, Speaking during the opening of Masjid Noor Kitui, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu called upon all the Kamba leaders to unite with ODM leader Raila Odinga and give him full support to form the next government.

Speaking in Kyangwithya West in Kitui Central at the funeral of the late Rose Nziu mother-in-law to Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu, Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio stated that, “We as supporters of Kalonzo Musyoka we have been calling for unity of the Kamba community but there are others who have been talking about Raila Odinga. We as leaders of Kitui and Ukambani at large we are rallying behind Kalonzo.”

“There is someone at the county office here in Kitui who always speaks about Raila Odinga let her continue with the ‘gospel’ of Raila as for us we are fully supporting Kalonzo’s presidency.” Senator Kiio added.

Kitui West MP Edith Nyenze at the funeral called on all Kamba leaders to unite together especially as the 2022 general elections approaches and fully support the Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

“As the Swahili say ‘Umoja ni nguvu‘ I call upon all the leaders to have one say not supporting different people as this will divide us and this will make other tribes start calling us ‘Kamuikamba‘ since we don’t speak with one voice.” The Kitui West MP said.

“If we have one voice the other tribes will look for us as we will have good bargaining power at the national arena and this will be possible if we support Kalonzo Musyoka,” She added.

In support of the two leaders, Kitui South MP Rachel Kaki Nyamai reiterated that Ukambani MPs have been working together in Parliament despite their political differences.

“We as Kitui MPs always work together despite that I was elected on Jubilee Party and would call on all the leaders in Ukambani to come and we work together ahead of the 2022 general elections, let’s support Kalonzo to avoid being in the opposition next year.” Kaki urged.
