A family from Kathungu village in Kitui county is devastated after their 17-year-old son who disappeared last week was found dead.
The Form two student at Mavindini secondary school identified as Joshua Syengo Nyamai disappeared on Monda while heading back to school only for his body to be found in Myumbu area, Maliku location.
The incident was confirmed by Kathungi location chief Katiwa Kilimu who said that investigations have commenced.
The cause of the death of the boy is still a mystery to the family and police. His body was removed from the scene by Itoleka police and taken to the morgue.
According to earlier reports, the boy left for school which is in Kisasi in the morning hours and did not reach school or where he stays while schooling.
“We talked to the school and were informed he did not reach school,” said the family spokesperson.
Locals have been asked to provide information that may help with investigations into the incident.
