Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage CS Penina Malonza and Senator Tabitha Mutinda joined Kitui MCAs during their training on scrutiny and interrogation of county statutory documents.
The Cabinet Secretary told the members and Speaker Kinengo that the Kenya Kwanza government will not leave Kitui county behind on matters of development. She revealed that the Economic Blueprint signed by UDA leaders before elections will guide them.
CS Malonza said that President Ruto’s government will help the Kitui people and it is a great opportunity that the Kitui people should take advantage of.
“We have a Government that has all the resources, my Ministry is ready to help the people of Kitui and Kenya at large. It is high time that MCAs shine and make sure that things move for the benefit of the Kitui people, especially since you have a young Assembly,” CS Malonza told the Members.
The MCAs raised issues to the Tourism CS on how the ministry can help in combating the human-wildlife conflict, especially in areas bordering game reserves, creation and implementation of tourist and heritage sites in Kitui County, compensation of victims of the wildlife-related issues and how the ministry of Tourism can create more job opportunities to the people of Kitui.
Speaker Kinengo Katisya thanked the CS and Senator Tabitha for finding the time and requested them to unite all the Kitui leaders with the goal of delivering development to the Kitui people.
Malonza promised that she will send her team to survey and drill water to areas where there is a human-wildlife conflict which will help the residents access water. She also challenged the MCAs to make regulations on how the land in the National reserves in Kitui should be used because the land belongs to the County Government of Kitui.
She reiterated her commitment to constructing a gate in Kasala, Ikutha ward in Kitui South so that Kitui residents can benefit from Tsavo East National Park and also build roads in Ikutha.
She assured them that she will at the forefront to push for the development of Kitui county through the Kenya Kwanza Government. The Speaker and the MCAs promised to rally behind her in ensuring that the people of Kitui benefit from her ministry.
