Police officers in Kibwezi East have arrested a 65-year-old man identified as Justus Mutuku who had been evading arrest since January for his alleged role in facilitating an abortion for a girl at a clinic in Kibwezi.
The suspect who has been on the run since January 19, 2024, was arrested in his hideout at Tassia in Embakasi East, Nairobi on Saturday night.
Mutuku is currently in custody at Kibwezi Police Station and is expected to be arraigned in court today to face charges related to the incident.
It was reported that Mutuku had provided accommodation for the Form Four girl near her school, as her home was far away. However, allegations surfaced that he had sexually abused the girl, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. The offenses came to light in January, leading to Mutuku’s disappearance until his recent arrest.
The clinical officer who allegedly assisted in the abortion procedure has already been charged in court and was released on a bond of sh 500,000.
