Machakos County Government to revamp sporting facilities

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi says the county government will upgrade and revamp sporting facilities in a bid to support talents.

Speaking at Kangundo after flagging off a 10-kilometer education run Mwangangi said that every ward will have at least one pitch to allow youths to train.

He noted Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s commitment to deepening sports development in the county and reducing drug abuse among the youths.

“The youths of Machakos county are in the heart of Governor Wavinya and we will do everything possible to enhance sports in the county. We are also constructing stadiums in every ward to encourage youths to keep off drugs and early pregnancies. I commend the MCA who organized this marathon because he is playing his role diligently,” Mwangangi said.

Mwangangi also encouraged MPs to use funds for games to support the youths in their constituencies as the funds had been increased from 2.5% to 5 percent.

“During our time we were using just 2.5% but you could see the work done, we now want to see the difference now that the allocation is a little higher,” he noted.
