Machakos County First Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala was appointed as the Nairobi County Chief Officer for Boroughs and Subcounty Administration.
In an exclusive interview with Mauvoo News, Kiala revealed that his expertise in devolution matters enabled him to clinch the position.
He noted that he was first nominated before being appointed and went through an interview where he stood out as the best candidate.
“I am grateful to Governor Johnson Sakaja for seeing the potential in me and appointing me for the position of Chief Officer Boroughs and Subcounty Administration in Nairobi County,” said Kiala.
“My expertise in matters of devolution enabled me to be among the best during my interview thus helping me get the position,” he added.
Kiala is known to have been at the forefront of educating residents about devolution through his program dubbed Ugatuzi Na Kiala.
He noted that many people have not yet learned what devolution is and it’s high time civic education was done to people so they have a know-how of what it means.
The Chief Officer went ahead to reveal that through his position services are meant to reach the local mwananchi. He disclosed that boroughs comprised 3 subcounties just like a municipality and this would enable the county government to decentralize all services.
“Governor Sakaja is bent on ensuring that all services are not centralized but decentralized so that the local mwananchi can feel what devolution is,” Kiala reiterated.
