The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in Makueni has been forced to announce the results of the Women rep position in Kibwezi East constituency without two polling station tallies.

The commission flagged results from the two polling stations in the constituencies as per the elections act. The two stations Komboyoo and Kathiiani had votes exceeding the number of registered voters for the Women Rep position.

In Kathiiani center number 026 polling station, the number of the registered voters is 199 but casted votes were 228.

In Komboyoo center 096 polling station two, the number of registered voters is 499 but the casted votes were 1225. This was confirmed by Makueni county returning officer Maurice Raria.

“The two polling station votes were disregarded under the election regulation act of 2011, both section 83 and section 1(b) of the said act which states that where the total votes cast exceed the total number of registered voters, the results should be canceled,” said the officer.

In the constituency, Rose Museo of the Wiper party garnered 13,039 votes followed closely by Betty King’oo who got 9807 votes. Wavinya Nzioka was third with 6940 votes and Mbula Mutula had 2215 votes. Outgoing Deputy governor Adelina Mwau got 2029 votes and Jane Kitundu had 1102 votes.
