Machakos Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman Peter Mutulu says Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is near the presidency more than ever.
While speaking on Kalyambeu in the Yatta sub-county of Machakos county Mutulu noted that if ODM leader Raila Odinga makes it to the AU then he may support Kalonzo for the presidency.
He said that if ODM decides to support Kalonzo he will be among the first people to start campaigning for Kalonzo in the county.
“If Raila bags the job then Kalonzo’s candidature is a sure bet and I will be among the people supporting him. I know we have had our differences but we should be ready to shelve them if we want the presidency to come to Ukambani,” said Mutulu.
He however asked Ukambani leaders to be cautious in their talks as the whole country was watching.
According to him, the Nyanza region may fail to support Kalonzo if they feel that Raila is not respected in the Ukambani region.
“Remember those people are very sensitive and if they note their leader is not respected in this region, they will throw their votes away. So please Maanzo tell other leaders to be cautious with their words lest they cost us the presidency,” he noted.
Mutulu had attended a burial accompanied by Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, and Yatta MP Robert Basil among other leaders.
