Kalonzo will not deputise anyone in 2022 – Maanzo

Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo has addressed rumors that Wiper leader Kalonzo may be cajoled to deputize ODM leader Raila Odinga in the upcoming elections.

Speaking at a function in Kalembwani, Maanzo said that Kalonzo will be OKA’s flag bearer in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He noted that for a long time Kalonzo and the Ukambani region has been backing up other candidates to vie for the presidency and now it was time the favor is retributed to him.

Maanzo called on Raila to back Kalonzo this time in a bid to appreciate his previous support.

“We have been supporting other candidates for years, we backed Raila Odinga and got nothing. Shockingly during the handshake, he went alone and ate alone. We supported Moi and Kibaki also,” said Maanzo.

“There is nothing else Raila can do now other than say Kalonzo Tosha. We did our part let him do his,” he added.

The outspoken lawmaker called for Ukambani leaders to unite behind Kalonzo warning that any sign of disunity can discourage other communities from voting for Kalonzo.

The Makueni MP urged the residents not to be misled by some leaders seeking to split Ukambani votes by vying for the presidency from the region.

He accused Governor Alfred Mutua and Governor Kivutha Kibwana of being mean and seeking to frustrate Kalonzo.
