Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has fired Kivutha Kibwana’s brother Patrick Kibwana from the position of Chief Officer, Health Services.
In a letter dated 6th October 2022, Dr. Patrick Kibwana who is the outgoing Chief Officer of Health Services congratulated Dr. Stephen Kiio who has been appointed by Governor Mutula to take his position in an acting capacity.
Patrick who has served in the department for 9 years during former Governor Kibwana’s tenure, thanked those who worked in the Health Department of Makueni county saying that their dedication and amazing work contributed to Makueni being placed on the health map in Kenya.
“H.E Governor has appointed Dr.Stephen Ndolo Kiio as the Acting Chief Officer, of health services with effect from 6th October 2022 and I heartily congratulate him on his appointment and ask the entire team to accord him maximum support so that the department soars to new heights of service delivery. We did well because we believed in team spirit, I trust that we shall excel more in this,” Patrick in the letter seen by Mauvoo News said.
In his 9 years as Chief Officer of Health Services, Makueni County received several awards in the health sector. In the first annual Quality Healthcare Kenya Gala awards, the county was recognized and voted as the best county in healthcare management after the former Governor invested heavily in the sector where he successfully rolled out the Universal Health Coverage scheme. Makueni County Referral Hospital was also awarded an award in the public hospitals of choice category in the Gala awards.
As of 2018, the Former Makueni Governor had rolled out 72,000 households in the county’s subsidized healthcare program from 25,000 households in his first term.
The health department in Makueni county has the biggest chunk of the 2022/2023 FY Budget at 34 percent translating to 3.395B.
