Firestorm as Kalonzo gives ultimatum to Wiper rebel MPs

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a stern warning to MPs within his party who defied the party’s directive by voting for the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking passionately in Mwingi, Kalonzo did not hold back in criticizing the lawmakers, signaling potential political consequences.

Kalonzo expressed his satisfaction with loyal members like Kitui Women Rep Irene Kasalu and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi, who he said respected the party’s decision to vote against the impeachment. But his tone shifted sharply when addressing those who broke ranks.

“Where has Charles Nguna gone to? We must show respect to the party,” he declared. His message was clear: loyalty must be unquestionable within Wiper, especially as the 2027 elections approach.

Kalonzo hinted that the rebels would need to make a choice sooner rather than later.

“By 2027, I don’t want to work with people who are disloyal,” he warned, leaving little room for ambiguity. In a direct jab, he invited them to cross over to the ruling UDA party, which he blamed for inflicting economic hardship on Kenyans.

“You have a right to vacate, don’t even wait to be disciplined because this time, we are not joking,” he fired.

Among those who voted in favor of Gachagua’s impeachment despite the Wiper Party Position include; Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna, Dadaab MP Farah Maalim, and Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako.

Kalonzo’s tough stance marks a pivotal moment within Wiper, signaling a looming shakeup for those whose loyalty is in question.
