A section of Boda Boda riders have this afternoon staged peaceful demonstrations in Kitui town saying they did not receive money given by Deputy President William Ruto.

Ruto toured Kitui County on Friday where he gave cash donation to women groups and Boda Boda riders from Kitui.

According to Kelvin Kivala Chairman of the Boda Boda Sacco in Kitui, the money was given out by DP Ruto and allegedly disappeared with Kitui leaders namely John Kisangau alias ‘mbaki mbaki’, MCA Ndoo, and Nimrod Mbai.

“Dp Ruto openly gave us Boda Boda riders here in Kitui town a sum of one million shillings through MCA John Kisangau to share with us but we never received anything and we were the ones who welcomed Ruto in Kitui,” Kivala said.

The riders also claim that they were forced to follow Ruto’s convoy from Kitui to Migwani in Mwingi West only to get such a small amount of money.“Kitui leaders never bothered about us before DP Ruto came, we tried to reach Kitui township MCA to address our issues but he didn’t listen to us until we decided to face him (Ruto) when he came to Kitui and eventually he listened to us,” another Boda Boda rider went on.

The riders vowed that if they won’t be given the money they will never support Deputy President William Ruto. Some Women also staged demonstrations saying that they have also not received their money given by Ruto.
