Masaku rugby sevens will be held in Machakos from the 7th to the 9th of April in honor of fallen rugby hero Benjamin Ayimba.
Ayimba was a co-founder of the Masaku rugby team and died at 44 early this year.
In an exclusive interview with Mauvoo News, Sky Muasya Machakos CEC Sports, and Culture said that apart from the game at the pitch and fine babes, business is expected to boom.
Since it has been years since the event was lastly held, a lot of people from neighboring counties and far are expected to attend.
Muasya saod that new job opportunities will be created more so for the youth and this will boost the economic growth of the county.
He revealed that the games will be held at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos town and urged locals to show up in numbers and cheer the players.
“The Benjamin Ayimba Legacy Tournament is set to take place in Machakos County, and excitement is building up as the day approaches. The tournament is not just an opportunity to showcase Kenya’s Rugby talents, but it’s also an excellent opportunity to boost the local economy and create business opportunities for the people of Machakos,” said Muasya.
He disclosed that local vendors will be allowed to showcase their products and services and they will be able to set up stalls and sell their wares too.
Muasya disclosed that the hotel industry will also get a boost from the games and is already gearing up to host the hundreds of visitors expected to attend.
The CEC added that the County will continue to host such events in a bid to foster the growth of the economy and give the people a sense of community.
