Ex-Wiper Kitui Governor candidate Kiema Kilonzo has shelved his gubernatorial bid to support Jubilee candidate for Kitui Gubernatorial seat and former Kitui Senator David Musila.
Addressing the press, Kiema Kilonzo’s campaign manager Chrispus Ileli said after wide consultation with the former Ugandan Ambassador they saw it wise to drop their bid and support David Musila.
He noted that Musila was ready to adopt Kiema’s dream to the people of Kitui and through that the supporters of Kiema would not be left out.
“Today as team balozi, or team Kiema we have unanimously decided to support David Musila alias Bwana Meko for Kitui Gubernatorial seat,” said the campaign manager.
“We have seen Musila’s manifesto and together with the ambassador’s manifesto we know that the county of Kitui is in safe hands and every supporter of Kiema should ensure that on the 9th of August we ensure all votes go to Musila,” he added.
Kiema Kilonzo was vying for the Kitui Governor seat on a Wiper ticket but lost to former Governor Julius Malombe during the Wiper nominations. Earlier, the Wiper party handed Malombe a direct ticket but Kiema went to court and the courts ordered wiper to conduct nominations.
He is now the second gubernatorial candidate for Kitui to support David Musila with Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu said to be supporting Musila also.
