Kiema Kilonzo Moves to Challenge Wiper Decision to Give Malombe direct ticket

Former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe was on Tuesday (19th April) officially given the Wiper Party ticket after Wiper National Executive Council approved the decision to issue him the ticket unopposed.

The contest of the Wiper Ticket was between Former Mutitu MP Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo and Malombe after former Senator David Musila decamped to the Jubilee Party. However, Kiema Kilonzo has dismissed the decision made by the Wiper NEC to give Malombe the Wiper ticket unopposed.

In a letter seen by Mauvoo News, Kiema, through his lawyer, wrote to the Wiper Party National Elections Board stating that Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka texted him (Kiema) on 17th April 2022 to appear at the SKM command center to meet religious leaders (On 18th April at 4 pm) to help build a consensus between Malombe and Kiema. However, when Kiema arrived at the SKM command center at 4 pm, he didn’t find any religious leader.

“Immediately after that, our client started receiving social media alerts to the effect that the National Executive Committee (NEC) had met yesterday, 18th April 2022, and resolved to recommend or approve the issuance of a direct certificate for Kitui Gubernatorial contest to Dr.Julius Malombe,” the letter read in part.

The letter further stated that the NEC should confirm whether it is true that they have issued a direct to Malombe to know the next step he (Kiema) will consider as he didn’t receive official communication from the Wiper Party.

This comes after Kiema declared Kevin Kalonzo, son of Wiper Leader Kalonzo, as his Deputy in what many alleged was an advantage to him to be given the Wiper party ticket.
