Kitui Gubernatorial Aspirant Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo has hit at former Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe for asking for a direct ticket from Wiper.
Kiema who spoke at a local Radio station said that if indeed Malombe has numbers as he claims, then he shouldn’t be worried about the nominations. He urged him to be ready to face him exuding confidence in winning.
“The other day we heard him say that he has numbers to become Governor. Also, he asked the party leader to give him a direct nomination ticket. My question is why is he afraid of the nominations if he has numbers,” Kiema asked.
He also poked holes in Malombe’s tenure as the first Governor of Kitui. He said the ex-county boss failed to hold public participation to know what the locals wanted. Instead, he did projects he thought were good without consulting the beneficiaries.
The ex- Mp noted that he will concede defeat if he loses the party primaries against Malombe.
“I will accept and support him if he wins the nominations,” he said.
He disclosed that Kelvin Kalonzo, son of Wiper leader Stephen Kalonzo will be his Deputy. He added that he has confidence that they will make great leaders.
The outspoken politician pledged to work with every leader once he gets to power promising to revive the ward fund.
“I will engage the people personally and know their problems. This will help to do projects that the people have requested. Everyone should know I will not work alone once I am chosen as Governor. I will work with every leader. Also to enable the MCAs to work diligently I will revive the ward funds,” Kiema promised.
After former Senator David Musila decamped to the Jubilee party the race for the Wiper ticket is between former Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo and Dr. Julius Malombe.
While launching his Manifesto over the weekend, Malombe argued that the latest scientific polls done by the Wiper Party showed that he is the leading candidate of all the five candidates who want to be Kitui Governor.
