The Betting Control and Licensing Board confiscated illegal betting slot machines in Machakos.
Dr. Jane Makau accompanied by Peter Mbugi, the board’s Chief Executive Officer and other board members collaborated with local security teams in taking action to eradicate illegal slot machines in Machakos.
Speaking at the offices of the Machakos County Police Commander while expressing deep concern over the impact these machines have had on society. Dr. Makau emphasized that the board only licenses properly vetted companies, and illegal betting machines pose a threat to Kenyans, especially the youth.
“These machines are destroying Kenyans in particular the youth, and they must be erradicated at all costs,” said Dr Makau.
Dr. Makau led the destruction of over 30 seized slot machines.
She praised the Machakos County Security team, led by County Commissioner Josephine Ouko, for their efforts in combating illegal betting activities. Dr. Makau urged security teams across the 47 counties to follow Machakos’s example and collaborate with the board in eliminating the illegal trade.
