Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has said that Azimio la Umoja was formed to ensure that DP Ruto doesn’t become president and that they were going to lose terribly.

Speaking during an interview with a Kamba Vernacular station, Mutula also stated that Kalonzo was promised to be given a slot to be the next speaker in the Azimio government since Raila will have a Deputy Mt. Kenya.

However, Mutula said he advised Kalonzo to refuse that because the next National Assembly Speaker will be determined by the party that gets the most seats.

“There is a possibility that Ruto might lose but get the most number of MPs in parliament just like Kibaki had a few MPs. The Speaker will be determined by those who will have the majority of members and we told Kalonzo to forget about that. Raila and Uhuru are pushing something that they know will fail. The problem is central Kenya people, they are not willing to back Raila,” The Senator said.

Mutula also refuted claims that he has been secretly pushing Kalonzo to join the newly formed Kenya Kwanza Movement led by DP Ruto. He disclosed that he is more bitter with the Kenya Kwanza movement than even Azimio la Umoja thus he can’t push Kalonzo to support them.

“I am used to being branded as Ruto’s secret ally because even when I and Senator Kiio were championing for revenue sharing formula they said that we secretly visit Ruto’s place but we were rallying behind our community. When you don’t support Raila, they automatically conclude you supporting Ruto and that can’t be possible because Ruto has done bad things to me that I can’t say here.” He went on.

Mutula reiterated that they will always support Kalonzp and not any other candidate and as a community, they won’t support anyone who is not for the benefit of the community. He also called on Kamba, Tharaka, Embu, and Meru communities to come together to support Kalonzo to increase his chances of becoming the next president.

“If you unite the communities who are closer to us than the Kikuyu and then get support from part of Central Kenya, Kalonzo will be ahead of the others because Kalonzo can be accepted across the country since he is trustworthy,” he added.
