Investigations launched after Makueni Chief died in neighbor’s house

Police in Mukaa sub-county Makueni, county have commenced investigations into the death of a middle-aged man. The man was identified as Douglas Mutiso and was the assistant chief for Kilome.

The incident was confirmed by Makueni county commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo who said that the man died in a relative’s house.

The Assistant chief is said to have been coming from a drinking spree when heavy rains started. He was forced to take shelter at the neighbor’s house to wait for the rain to subdue.

However, the rains continued for some time and he was given a place to sleep and leave in the morning.

Unfortunately, when morning came the man had already died and vomit was found beside him. The county commissioner said that it’s not clear what killed the man but investigations are on.

“It’s true, an assistant chief in Kilome sub-location Douglas Mutiso was found dead in a relative’s house. He went there last night but in the morning he was found dead,” Kitiyo said.

“The circumstances surrounding his death are not clear so there is no more information but investigations will be conducted to establish the cause of death,” he added.

Police were notified about the incident and arrived to take away the body to Kilungu sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
