Senator Mutula speaks for the first time after Wiper Joined Azimio

Days after the Wiper party put pen to paper and signed to join the Azimio la Umoja coalition, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has spoken about the new coalition.

Addressing the press in Wote, Senator Mutula praised Kalonzo as a man who loves the country asking Raila to have him as his Deputy President.

“When we did the 2017 elections we had agreed that Raila will endorse Kalonzo to be president. But because Kalonzo loved Kenya, he agreed to endorse Raila as flagbearer. Because talks are ongoing, we want him to be given the Deputy president position.” The senator said.

The senator called on the issue of the coalition name which has been disputed between Azimio La Umoja and Azimio – OKA to be resolved.

“If our leader has agreed, we also agree and we will assist them where we can so that Raila Odinga gets the seat. Let them accept as Wiper we have humbled ourselves and taken the back seat. We want to have a voice in that Government, a loud voice for that matter.” Mutula went on.

The senator urged Raila, President Uhuru, and Kalonzo to stick together and do away with other people who were coming in between them.

“The Kamba community has suffered and because we have agreed we want Kalonzo to be given respect in these talks. Let Kalonzo be given the chance. Let negotiations be fair, just, and transparent. If they agree on one thing let it not be changed in another meeting.” The senator added.

The senator seems to have dropped his earlier hardline stand against campaigning for Raila. In January, Mutula said that he was ready to lose his seat rather than sell Raila in Makueni. Missed the story? Check it out below;
