Sammy Kioko Plans Return to Comedy After Machakos County Pay Row

Comedian Sammy Kioko is set to make a highly anticipated return to the comedy scene, months after publicly raising concerns over an alleged delayed payment by the Machakos County Government—an episode that briefly pushed him out of the spotlight and ignited debate online.

Kioko, celebrated for his relatable humour and strong grassroots appeal, took a break from public performances, particularly the popular Wamusyi show he co-hosts with close friend Tom Daktari. At the time, the comedian expressed frustration over what he described as the county’s failure to honour payment for services rendered.

His claims, shared widely on social media, attracted mixed reactions, with some Kenyans sympathising with his predicament while others questioned how the dispute was handled.

Months later, Kioko appears ready to move forward. On Wednesday afternoon, the comedian announced his return through a well-designed promotional poster shared on his Facebook page. The content of the poster revealed that he and Tom Daktari will host the Wamusyi Valentine Edition on February 14, 2026, at the iconic Pride Inn Plaza Hotel, located at Signature Mall along Mombasa Road.

The poster was accompanied by a light-hearted New Year message encouraging fans to make time for enjoyment and teasing the Valentine’s theme. “Happy New Year!! Let’s create time for enjoyment mapema ndo best, unakuja na nani?” the caption read.

The announcement was met with enthusiastic reactions online, with fans tagging friends, widely sharing the poster, and expressing excitement ahead of the Valentine’s Day show—signalling a strong comeback for the comedian.
