Faith Kalekye King’oo was the best student in Eastern Region in the 2008 KCSE. Eastern Region comprised Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Meru, Marsabit, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, and Embu Counties.

Faith did her KCSE exams at Mbooni Girls High School where she scored 86.681 and was ranked position one in the Eastern Region and position 41 Nationally.

During an interview with a local Kamba station, Faith who is the fourth born in her family revealed that life was not easy while growing up as her parents were struggling.

She noted that her not being taken to the High School of choice messed up her grades in Form One making her drop but later she recovered.

“I scored 435 marks in KCPE and was called to Limuru Girls but my parents sat me down and explained to me that they had no money so I joined Mbooni Girls, this really messed me up because after the exams I was in position 30 despite being the student with the highest KCPE marks,” she narrated.

“This was caused by the many thoughts I had concerning me not joining my school of choice but later I came to understand that I was shaping my future and I can do it anywhere I am despite the environment,” she added.

Faith after scoring a straight A plain in her KCSE went to Nairobi University where she did a Degree in Medicine.

She revealed that at the age of 7 years, she was admitted to a hospital, and from there she changed her dream from being an Engineer to being Doctor after seeing how she was handled by doctors.

Faith now works with Equity Afia where she is a General Practitioner in Kitui County.
