Traders at Grogon in Machakos town are up in arms over increased cases of insecurity in the area.
They told Mauvoo News that insecurity has been their cup of tea since the security light went off last year.
The traders called upon the County Government of Machakos to replace the security light noting that their shops have been broken into and valuables stolen over the months.
“Since 2022 we have been experiencing insecurity and lack of security lights is the major cause because at night it is very dark thus giving thugs ample time to rob us,” said a trader.
Another trader said that when they report the incidents to the police no action is taken.
“My shop was broken into early last month, I came in the morning and found everything missing, I reported to the police and I was given an OB number, the officers came and assessed the place and went away, since then I have not gotten any report. I had to begin from zero because this is my livelihood,” she said.
According to them they are forced to close their business early due to lack of security lights and believe if the lights are replaced then their headache will end.
“We would like to urge the Governor to hear our cries and come to our aid because we are incurring losses,” said another trader.
