Former Machakos Health CEC Daniel Yumbya has called on the government to ensure that police protect peaceful protesters instead of turning their guns on them.
Speaking in Kangundo ahead of the planned June 25th demonstrations, Yumbya condemned the recent police brutality witnessed during protests, insisting that such incidents should never be repeated.
“The Gen Z are peaceful. They should be protected at all costs. The police should go after the goons with clubs and sticks who infiltrate the protests, not the innocent demonstrators,” said Yumbya.
The Senatorial aspirant also encouraged the youth to complement street protests with decisive action at the ballot.
“Protests alone won’t bring change. If you’re angry, take your ID, register as a voter, and prepare to kick out the leaders you don’t want in 2027. Real change happens at the ballot box,” he urged.
Yumbya, who has formally declared his bid for the Machakos Senate seat, promised to be a vocal and firm representative, saying he would prioritize oversight and push for better governance if elected.
