The corpse of a thirty-year-old man has been retrieved from River Athi along the Kaliani section in Katangi, Yatta sub-county.
This comes after police launched a search on Tuesday after receiving reports that he had drowned. The 30-year-old victim drowned in River Athi near Kinyaata Village early Tuesday morning
Jeremiah Wambua Kivindyo Kaliani village head, confirmed the body was retrieved. He also stated that Katangi law enforcement transferred the deceased to a morgue in Machakos town.
The man was with four other people when he was swept away by the river’s currents. This is in line with accounts from sources close to the incident. The traveling group of five people was apparently crossing from Mwala to the Yatta side when the disaster struck.
