Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has secured the backing of Ukambani clan leaders in his quest for the presidency in 2027.
The leaders, drawn from various clans in the region, met at Kalonzo’s Yatta home in Machakos County, where they pledged their full support for his candidacy.
Speaking after the meeting, Boniface Kilonzo, Chairman of the Akamba Clans Governing Council of Elders, emphasized the need for the Kamba community to unite behind Kalonzo to ensure his victory.
“We deliberated on strategies to propel Kalonzo to the presidency and agreed, in totality, to back him. We urge all 22 Kamba clans to support this vision and turn it into reality,” said Kilonzo.
Joel Nguta, an elder from the Asii clan, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of unity in rallying behind Kalonzo.
“As a community, we must present a united front to other tribes. Kalonzo has the experience and capability to lead this nation, and it’s time we stand firmly behind him,” Nguta stated.
Joel Kasivu, the National Chairman of the Aiini clan, added that mobilization efforts were already underway to popularize Kalonzo’s bid across the region.
“Our message is clear, young and old, men and women, everyone must hear this call. The time is now for our son to take the reins of leadership in the next general election,” Kasivu declared.
The endorsement by the Ukambani clan elders is expected to boost Kalonzo’s standing as he strategizes for the 2027 presidential race.
