Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda has hit out at Machakos County’s top leadership (Machakos Girls) over the indefinite closure of the County Assembly.
“Mr. Speaker, allow me to also make my contribution on the indefinite suspension of the County Assembly of Machakos. Mr. Speaker, it is a shame and it is very sad today that County Assemblies can close,” Senator Tabitha said.
“After the 2022 elections, we were so proud to have what we call the Machakos girls. Mr. Speaker, we were so proud to have a woman governor, a woman senator, of course, a woman representative, and a woman speaker. As we speak right now with that beautiful leadership the way it has been, of course, it has now turned into a difficult political issue to the point that the Speaker has to indefinitely adjourn the Assembly, citing threats to her life and MCAs opposed to her impeachment.” She added.
Senator Tabitha said it was a shame for women leadership, calling on the Machakos leaders to sit down and resolve their differences. She cautioned that if the stalemate continues, Machakos residents might miss out on development.
“I would want to ask the leadership of Machakos County. This is a shame to women leadership. It is high time that they should be able to sit down, resolve their political differences, and offer services to the people of Machakos. Where I sit as a vice chair of finance and budget, as we speak, we’ve suggested 465 billion through the BPS. For Machakos I guess they are taking about 9.5 billion so definitely they will be getting more money, if the county assembly of Machakos County cannot pass their budgets how are they going to ensure that they’re going to offer services to the people of Machakos County who elected them and ensured they in those offices.”The Senator posed.

“They are still earning salaries, and they have adjourned their sessions, and they have a calendar which was well stipulated that was to go up to the 14th of May. Mr. Speaker, it is wrong. It is wrong whereby Mwananchi suffers because of political issues. Those leaders who are women leaders should come together and resolve the political issues that are in that place. And I don’t see why she should be impeached, Mr. Speaker. Because now look at where these issues have gone. “She added.
