Section of women from Kangundo North unveil preferred MCA candidate

A section of Women drawn from various areas in Kangundo North Ward in Kangundo Subcounty have unveiled their preferred MCA candidate.

The women pledged to support NARC Party Aspirant for the MCA position Bernadette Mutisya. Speaking after a meeting with the MCA Aspirant the women said that they had been voting for men in the ward but there was no significant development.

They complained that for 10 years of devolution they have never got to enjoy the fruits like other wards in the sub-county. They said that they are used to electing leaders and they end up not helping them.

“We have elected so many leaders in the ward but no developments that we can show. As women we are the ones who suffer a lot in society because if there are no boreholes we have to fetch water from far, if the roads are bad we are not able to access transport or expand our business,” they said.

“We have seen a leader in Bernadette and we want now to elect a woman who knows our problems who can understand what a woman goes through and can relate. We are tired of electing non-performing leaders,” they added.

The women further called on the male leaders to support women who are vying for various positions so that they can bring change in the rural areas as well as urban areas.

“Women know the real problems that are facing the society and in the areas that have embraced women leadership there is change in their areas and now we want to do that in our ward and the men should now support us because we have supported them for long,” said the women.

Bernadette Mutisya is a nominated MCA in Makueni county who is seeking to unseat Kangundo North ward MCA John Nzomo.
