Emotions ran high during the burial of Stanley Muthengi Junior in Muukuni, Mwingi West constituency in a function attended by thousands of mourners.
Muthengi Junior was an MCA candidate for Kyome/Thaana ward in Mwingi West, Kitui County, and died in a grisly road accident along Thika-Garissa road. Several political leaders from the region attended the burial to give him a befitting sendoff and condole with his family.
The political leaders eulogized Muthengi Junior as a young man who had his principles and steered development in Mwingi and Kitui at large when he was a student leader at the University.
“Muthengi has been my friend, we have worked together when he was a youth leader I was also among the Young Aspirants of Kenya Association Team from Kitui and we have collaborated to uplift the Kamba community. We have lost a leader with a promising future, May he rest in eternal peace,” Mwende Kimani an MCA candidate from Migwani ward said.
Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna eulogized Muthengi Junior as a visionary leader who worked closely with him and asked for advice from him although he was a young man but a man with words full of wisdom.
“He used to give me advice and one thing he told me is that I should stop gathering all students at Migwani when issuing bursaries. He told me to introduce village centers and devolve to location when issuing the bursaries and I listened to him and I’m grateful for being part of my young bright thinktanks from my area,” Nguna said.
He also called upon people to leave good deeds and relate well with others for the community to celebrate when they depart from this world.
Tujibebe Wakenya Party was represented by party chair Enock Monari who promised to stand with the family going forward and asked politicians to preach peace ahead of elections.
“I’m here on behalf of our party leader William Kabogo who has asked me to deliver his condolences to the family. Stanley was a friend of our party leader and when he was being cleared by IEBC he sent us photos and told us he had succeeded. we were only informed next day that he passed on.” Monari said.
