The ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned Kitui East MP for allegedly assaulting a KPLC engineer at his Kitengela residence on 3rd July.
The commission through a letter dated July 10 affirms that it is in receipt of the allegations and requires Mbai to appear in their offices today morning.
“The commission notes that these allegations constitute serious ethical issues and if true would amount to a serious breach of the integrity and ethical requirements governing the conduct of state officials as laid out under Chapter Six of the Constitution and the Leadership and Integrity Act 2012”, read the letter.
Twalib Mbarak, the CEO of the commission adds investigations into the matter have been commenced and Mbai would face the law if found guilty.
Mbai was captured in a viral video insulting Kenya Power officials and violently slapping one of the engineers who had been sent by the power supply company to disconnect an illegal electricity connection from his residence at Kitengela early last week.
After slapping him, he tried to pull out what looks a like a gun from his waist but he did not. He was later arrested and his gun was confiscated.
