Wavinya speaks after violent demos in Machakos

Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has condemned the ongoing demonstrations by Azimio supporters.

Addressing the press, Wavinya said that demos were not the way to solve issues in the country rather amicable talks would.

“I will not allow anyone to come and vandalize property in Machakos, I hear Makueni they have burnt cars. The cars that have been burnt are from within not outside,” said Wavinya.

“That lady that has died was just coming home peacefully but now she is no more, her family has been left without a mother, is that the Kenya you want,” added Wavinya.

Some of the residents in Machakos town had blocked Machakos – Kitui road while they were demonstrating against the cost of living. This caused the police to use teargas to disperse the rowdy people.

In Makueni County a man was killed in Emali in the mayhem of the demos where residents had blocked a part of Mombasa road.

Several people also lost their lives in Mlolongo in the aftermath of the day-long protests that saw part of the expressway vandalized.
