Murkomen tells off Muthama over KERRA roads

Transports CS Kipchumba Murkomen clashed with Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) Member Johnson Muthama over the recently advertised KERRA road tenders.

In a Facebook post, Muthama questioned the ministry on why 15 counties missed from the list while most roads were in a few counties.

“In our Kenya Kwanza campaign, we championed equity and fairness, a departure from the previous Jubilee administration. It’s disheartening to observe a deviation from these principles among some government officials.”Muthama said.

“The recent Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) tender notice for various roads nationwide fails to align with the ideals of our administration. The Ministry of Roads and Transport must clarify the criteria used to allocate kilometers to specific counties, especially the disparity, such as Bungoma receiving less than a kilometer. It’s crucial for Kenyans to understand why 15 counties are absent from KeRRA’s list. Is it indicative of a lack of roads requiring improvement or drainage structures needing attention?” The PSC Member questioned.

Muthama urged CS Kipchumba Murkomen to reconsider the KeRRA list to ensure a fair reallocation that genuinely mirrors the commitment to serve every corner of the country equally.

In the list Machakos will get 4 km of road, Kitui 1 Km, and Makueni did not get any. Some of the big winners include Nyeri 65.5 Km, Muranga 41.5 Km, Elgeyo Marakwet 31.5 Km, Kiambu 36.7 Km, Garissa 54.8Km, Migori 80km and Tana River 42km.

In response to Muthama, Murkomen told him off saying, “Stop spreading propaganda Honorable commissioner, that’s is not a true reflection of road projects in the country.”
