Mwingi Central OCPD Nicholas Mutua has confirmed the arrest of a middle-aged man identified as Katiwa Nzoka, alleged to have assaulted a female preacher in Mwingi.
The man who is reportedly a strong supporter of Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi is said to have assaulted apostle Regina because she was not supporting Mulyungi but instead showed her support for Lydia Mutambu.
“We have arrested one Katiwa Nzioka who is suspected to have beaten and badly injured a female evangelist in Mwingi two weeks ago before he disappeared,” Mutua said.
“The two are said to have differed politically as the apostle was supporting Lydia Mutambu and the suspect is a strong supporter of the current Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi,” Mutua noted.
Katiwa is a renowned name in social media who uses voice notes on different WhatsApp platforms to pass his message.
At the same time, A body of a 69-year-old was found lying in a hole in Syomikuku village in Mwingi Central, Kitui County. OCPD Nicholas Mutua, said that the body was discovered by children as they were going to school in the morning.
“This morning (Tuesday, April 26) we received a sad call that a man who is 69 years old was found lying dead in a pit by children as they were going to school. We rushed to the scene and confirmed that the reports were true,”Mutua said.
According to the OCPD, the man who was identified as Joseph Musili Ngindu, is suspected to have fallen into the pit after he was drunk as the body suffered head injuries from being hit by rocks in the pit.
Police took the body to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem to be conducted on it.
