Mavoko: Three Arrested for kidnapping and robbing a pastor

Detectives have arrested three suspects in connection to the abduction and robbery of a pastor near Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday night.

Following a collaboration between the DCI Nairobi unit and officers from Langa’ta the three, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, Alphonce Munyau, and Samuel Musembi Kamito were arrested at their respective residences in Syokimau, Kitengela, and Kamito.

According to the victim, a pastor at the Christ Church, the incident occurred when he was heading for dinner after busy preparations for an upcoming crusade at the Nyayo National Stadium. Three assailants accosted him and bundled him into a waiting saloon car.

In the vehicle, the pastor was subjected to a humiliating ordeal, stripped naked, and forced into revealing his Mpesa pin under threat. The pastor transferred Ksh 55,000 to the suspects’ phones before being released.

Acting swiftly on the victim’s report filed at Nyayo Police Post, the DCI team analyzed forensic clues, leading them to Village Apartment Hse No F2 in Syokimau, where they arrested the first suspect, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu. A search of his residence yielded three handsets, including an iPhone 13 containing the SIM card used for the illicit transfer, as well as a bank card swapping machine.

Upon interrogation, Bernard led the detectives to Kitengela, where his accomplice Alphonce Munyau was arrested at Stengo 1 Apartment Hse No. E4, in possession of the victim’s phone. Alphonse provided information leading to the arrest of Samuel Musembi Kamito in Katani area of Athi River.

The three suspects are in custody at Langata Police Station, pending arraignment on Monday.
