Matungulu artists compose emotional song mourning Dr. Philip Munyao

In a poignant display of solidarity and remembrance, artists from Matungulu sub-county in Machakos County have come together to craft a heartfelt farewell song dedicated to the late Dr. Philip Munyao, who recently passed away.

Titled ‘Lala Salama Hon. Munyao,’ the song resonates with the constituency’s sorrow over the loss of the former parliamentary aspirant, highlighting the void of unrealized aspirations he leaves behind.

The accompanying video, now streaming on YouTube, captures the emotional recording process as artists pour their sentiments into each verse. Interspersed with these heartfelt performances are glimpses of Dr. Munyao during his campaign endeavors, underscoring his impactful presence within the community.

One poignant lyric from the song encapsulates the collective sentiment: “Tuko in pain umeacha gap, machozi kama rain nkicheki hii snap, ulitunurture Leo umetuacha, wengine wakiland kumbe kwako ni departure….” (“We are in pain, you’ve left a gap, tears like rain as I look at the picture you nurtured us but now you’ve left while others are landing for you it’s departure…”) voiced by one of the artists, reflecting on the profound impact of Dr. Munyao’s departure.

Known for nurturing local talents, Dr. Munyao provided a platform for artists in the region, exemplifying his multifaceted persona as both a politician and a patron of the arts.

Tragically, Dr. Munyao’s promising journey was cut short by a fatal accident in Kilimani, Nairobi. His passing has deeply touched the hearts of many, especially the youths in Matungulu whom he inspired and supported.
