Police in Makueni have launched a manhunt for a 22-year-old woman who killed her 18-month-old baby in Mumela, Kasikeu.
Mukaa sub-county police commander Barnabas Ng’eno confirmed the saddening incident.
He said that two people, the mother and brother of the girl have been arrested to help with investigations.
He disclosed that the girl had lied to her suitor that she had no child thus killing the baby in order to get married.
The police boss said that the girl had lied and that the baby was sick and in hospital but when confronted by neighbours she escaped.
“In an attempt to follow her they found a fresh pile of soil in the field and on digging up they found the body of the little girl in a sack,” said the OCPD.
Ng’eno warned women killing their children to please men that the law will not spare them.
“If you don’t want the baby please bring them to us instead of killing them. The state is capable of raising them in children’s homes, “Nge’no cautioned.
He noted that the mother of two is at large but soon she will be caught and brought to justice.
