Makueni County Deputy Majority Leader Francis Mutuku alias Muso was arrested by police Thursday.
Muso was arrested at his home in Kilili for allegedly being behind the demos in Emali town.
His arrest was confirmed by Makueni assembly speaker Douglas Mbilu who said that the circumstances surrounding his arrest are not clear.
The Speaker said he had received phone calls about the issue but he does not have detailed information.
He promised to follow up on the matter and give information to the media.
“I received a call from a local in Kilili that their area MCA had been arrested, I also received several other calls but I have not gotten much information but the moment I will, I will be able to share with you and the people, “Speaker Mbilu said.
Thursday was the second day for the Azimio demos this week and in Emali the protesters had blocked the Nairobi-Mombasa road causing traffic snarl-up for hours.
The protesters engaged the police in running battles.
