With the inauguration of Mutula Kilonzo Junior as Makueni Governor in August 2022, Anita Mbinya officially became the County First Lady. While many saw her for the first time during the campaigns, Anita and Mutula have been married for more than 10 years.
Anita Mbinya attended different schools within Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni Counties for her Primary and Secondary level studies. Her interest in the airline industry made her enroll at Graffins College to undertake a course in Hotel and Hospitality Management.
However, she eventually changed and ventured into the field of Communication at the University of Nairobi where she graduated with a degree in Communication and Tourism.
According to the information on her Instagram and LinkedIn pages, Anita is the founder and Manager at Triple T Communication Limited. During a recent interview, she revealed that she enjoys the communication field more than hospitality because it involves interacting with people outdoors more than indoors.
As the First Lady, she is collaborating with other sectors to promote better maternal and child healthcare, Early childhood development, environmental conservation, mentorship, and youth development.
Similarly, she runs an organization dubbed Anita Mbinya Foundation which aims at empowering women, advocating children’s nutrition and healthy growth as well as offering rehabilitation to youths.
Anita met her husband Mutula Junior in Westlands in January 2009 and they have two children, Callista Mutete and a son named Tula. Her hobbies include watching movies and reading books. She celebrated her 40th birthday on July 11.
