Machakos Central MCA Nicholas Nzioka says that sex workers and jobless youth are among the people targeted to benefit from a nursery tree project at Kaumbuthu dam.
Speaking at Machakos, Nzioka also known as Wangondi noted that the others targeted to benefit are women.
He disclosed that a total of 100,000 seedlings will be planted around the dam.
According to him, the aim is to take out the twilight women from the streets and ensure they benefit from the sh.10 million project.
“Through this project, they will be able to generate income through the sales of the seedlings,” he noted.
He spoke after visiting the dam located a few kilometers from the main town during the dumping of assorted varieties of seeds. The project will include the nursery, fish project, and fencing of the dam.
Outside the dam, there will be a trough and a car wash shed.
The MCA expressed hope that the project will impact the selected groups positively and urged them to be actively involved.
