Machakos: Post Bank Donates Posho Mill to Women Group

Post Bank Machakos Branch has donated a posho mill to the Makandi Women Group in Makaveti, Kalama Sub-county.

Hillary Ng’etich, Manager of Post Bank Nairobi South, announced the donation, citing the Women’s group’s unwavering loyalty to the bank as the driving force behind the initiative. Ng’etich emphasized that the decision to gift the posho mill to the women was influenced by their collective needs identified in 2015.

During a handover ceremony at the Makaveti Trading Centre, Ng’etich highlighted the mill’s potential to empower the women economically, particularly in producing affordable chicken feed. He underscored that the donation forms part of Post Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, aimed at fostering self-reliance among women.

“Our aim as a Bank is to see you thriving and developing,” Ng’etich assured the women group, urging them to leverage the mill to spearhead additional projects and expand their membership for collective prosperity.

The group’s Chairlady, Muthoki Mulinge termed the timely, considering the group’s need for chicken feed production. With 70 members, Mulinge affirmed the group’s commitment to utilizing the mill to produce chicken feed for both personal consumption and sale to villagers, thereby enhancing their income.

Florence Mwongeli, a member of the women group, praised the donation, acknowledging the mill’s potential to streamline feed production. “We were mixing the feeds manually, which required a lot of labor. We are grateful for the posho mill because it will save us time and make our work easier,” Mwongeli remarked.
