Governor Malombe promises support for Katangi road accident victims

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has said his government will support 10 families who lost their loved ones in the Katangi road accident last week.

“My government will offer supplementary support through the Ministry of Health and Department of Disaster and Emergency Services through the following ways; waiving mortuary fees, and funeral expenses including covering the cost of coffins, hiring tents and chairs, and also sending a county representative during the day of send-off,” said Malombe.

While addressing the media in Kitui, Malombe stated they have been monitoring the situation of the victims daily.

“We have been monitoring the situation and receiving daily updates about the accident victims. The minister for health Machakos Daniel Yumbya has been communicating with our own minister for health for the daily updates,” He added.

“It is with heavy heart, that I announce at the scene we lost 8 lives of our people. 4 men,3 women, and one female child. Additionally, 2 males succumbed to injuries, one died on his way to the hospital and the other one during treatment, bringing to a total of 10 lost lives.” The governor went on.

The deceased include; Jacinta Kanini from Kanyangi village in Kitui county, Redempta Mukui from Mua ward in Machakos, Justin Mutinda from upper Kaewa Machakos county, Esther Mwikali from Iveti Machakos county, Daniel Wambua from Nzambani ward Kitui county, Richard Muema from Kwavonza Kitui county, Dickson Nzuki from Kavaani village Kitui county, Maluki from Kitui county, Patrick kikulu from Nzambani Kitui county and a female child from kwa vonza ward Kitui county.

“The loss of lives in this accident is not just a statistics. One life lost is too main. They have left a void in our community that can never be filled. May the departed souls rest in peace,” The governor went on.
