Former Governor Malombe Reveals Next Move After Tribunal Upheld his Wiper Nomination

Former Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Friday held a meeting with ward coordinators to deliberate on how to conduct a grassroots campaign for his gubernatorial bid.

This is after the Political Party Disputes Tribunal ruled that Malombe was legally and fairly nominated as Wiper Party’s candidate for the Kitui county governor race.

Malombe stated that he is now ready to kick off his campaigns stating that the case that was presented by his opponent former Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo was politically influenced by other people who don’t want him to vie on the Wiper ticket.

“After the scientific polls conducted in Kitui I have been leading and now the people of Kitui want me to come back and revive the projects that I started and have stalled under the current regime. The people are saying Ngilu has abandoned her duties, workers are not being paid in time, ambulances I bought are not operating, health centers have no medicine, and no remarkable development. When they compare me with her they say that during my time what I did is still visible,” he said.

Malombe added that the people of Kitui have vowed that they don’t want to experiment with any other leader trashing the new candidates who want the same seat arguing that Kitui is not a laboratory for experiments.

“There is a suspicion that Kiema is being used by other people to derail my campaigns through the cases because when polls were conducted he never got past 8 percent yet he can’t deliver any seat. There are people we heard that they want to ‘kill’ Wiper Party and were the ones who pushed for Nominations so that they can mobilize people and come to vote for Kiema,” he added.

Malombe further reiterated that Kiema can’t even win the Nzambani MCA seat leave alone the gubernatorial one.

“He was rejected in Kitui East and I don’t whether he can beat Ruth Kyene the MCA of his home area in Nzambani so let him not waste our time dragging us to court cases. if he thinks that he has a lot of support let him go independent,” Malombe stated.

The first Kitui Governor revealed that he will be embarking on a massive campaign to see that he ‘reclaims the lost glory of Kitui’.

Last month, Kiema Kilonzo moved to challenge the decision by Wiper to hand Malombe a direct ticket. Missed the story? Check it out below;
