Machakos Health Workers Issue Strike Notice

Machakos County Health Workers Unions have promised to down their tools come Monday next week.

Addressing the media after a meeting with County Government officials, the health workers said that despite being called for talks nothing meaningful was discussed in the meeting.

They noted that their grievances were not aired out as they had articulated them and come Monday 18th July they will put down their tools.

“We issued the County Government with a legal strike notice 2 weeks ago, today we have just come out of a meeting with the officers of the County Government without anything tangible as considered by these members, they have failed to address our issues,” said one the health workers.

“What we want to inform the county officials is that let them start seeking services from other Counties where health workers will be working unlike us who will not be working because come Monday we shall down our tools,” They went on.

The health workers had issued a strike notice of 21 days after they had complained that there were no promotions and no medical supplies.

The health workers include Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists, the Kenya National Union Of Nurses, Kenya Union of Clinical Officers among other unionists.
