A driver working for the Machakos County government escaped after crashing a fire engine in Matuu, Yatta sub-county.
According to witnesses, the driver was responding to a fire incident when the incident happened.
The self-involved accident happened along the Marikiti-Kithimani road at around noon.
“After the accident, the driver fled immediately and no one knows where he went, no one was injured during the incident,” said a witness.
The vehicle is stationed at Matuu level four hospital in the same sub-county.
By the time of reporting the driver had not been located and the lorry had blocked the road making it impassable.
Also, the cause of the accident or why the driver fled is still a mystery. Police officers have launched investigations into the incident.
