Machakos DG speaks after Ruto and Raila truce

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has hailed the move by President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga to put their differences aside and embrace dialogue.

In a Facebook Post, Mwangangi noted that the move will ensure a stable country and peace will prevail.

“I welcome the move by the President William Samoei Ruto and the Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga to embrace dialogue as a means of resolving grievances and diversity of opinions for the Kenyan good. We can only build a stable and harmonious nation by embracing togetherness irrespective of our differences and political affiliations,” Mwangangi said.

“I hope the dialogue will bear fruits addressing the most pertinent issues facing Kenyans,” he added.

On Sunday evening, President William Ruto urged the opposition to call off the demos after an offer to have a bi-partisan parliamentary process to discuss the IEBC reconstitution.

The president said his administration was open to objective and sincere deliberations based on the constitution.

Raila Odinga later called off the Monday and Thursday demos to give room to Ruto’s gesture.
