Machakos County has received two Cuban doctors who will help in treating patients with heart diseases as well as brain injuries.
According to Machakos Health CECM Dr. Ancent Kituku, the two Cuban doctors were a result of a bilateral agreement with the Cuban and Kenyan governments.
Kituku revealed that the two would be based in Machakos Level 5 Referral hospital whereby patients with brain tumors and heart diseases will be treated.
“We received 2 Cuban specialist doctors who are part of the bilateral agreement between Kenya and Cuba. Dr. Nilo Norono Morales, a cardiologist will manage our patients with heart diseases. Dr. Orlando Manuel Rios Mastrapa, a neurosurgeon will manage patients requiring brain surgeries after head trauma or for brain tumors. Machakos county has never had these 2 types of specialists,” he said.
The health CEC further revealed that Machakos county had 59 doctors currently undergoing training in neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and Oncology.
