Kitui:Kasalu rescues two minors impregnated by relative

Kitui Women representative Irene Kasalu has rescued two sisters aged 15 and 17 impregnated by a relative in Iluusya, Kitui South.

While visiting the home of the two girls Kasalu called for fast-tracking of the case to ensure justice.

She disclosed that two suspects are already in custody in connection with the case.

“Although the case should have been reported last year we are grateful the parent came out to report recently. What we are asking for is that justice be served to these little girls whose lives were messed by people known to them,” Kasalu said.

“We want thorough investigations to be done so that the truth can be unraveled and the suspects charged according to the law because the law does not permit anyone to engage in sexual activities with minors,” she added.

Kasalu also promised to take the two girls back to school to continue with their studies which had been cut short.

She decried increased cases of defilement in the county and called upon all stakeholders to speak against the vice.

“If these children cannot get justice here at home they will be taken to a haven where they can be protected and be able to go back to school. We have heard cases involving one-year-old or even seven-year-old children which is very sad,” The Women Rep went on.

She warned parents against using Kangaroo courts to solve defilement cases against their children.
