In a heartwarming turn of events, Joseph Mwangangi John, a dedicated student who scored an impressive 356 marks in his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination in 2023, is set to embark on his secondary education journey.

Joseph, a former student at Kasina Secondary School in Mwingi Central Sub-county, found himself in a challenging situation after being unable to secure a spot at Matinyani Boys Secondary, the institution he had initially aspired to join. However, his academic prowess did not go unnoticed.

Dr. Irene Kasalu, the Women Representative for Kitui County, stepped in to offer Joseph a four-year scholarship, ensuring that financial constraints did not hinder his educational pursuits. Dr. Kasalu’s office facilitated Joseph’s transition to Matinyani Boys Secondary School, renowned as one of the top schools in Kitui.

The National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), overseen by the Kitui Women Representative’s office, played a crucial role in identifying Joseph’s case. Kitaa Peter, the Chairman of NGAAF, expressed gratitude for the prompt response from netizens who brought the student’s situation to their attention.

“Yesterday, we received a report about a student from Mutwangombe who had scored an impressive 356 marks in KCPE but had not reported to Form One due to financial constraints. Honorable Irene Kasalu immediately directed us to assist him, and today he is here in the office, ready and prepared for his journey to school,” said Kitaa Peter.
