Kitui Women representative Irene Kasalu has spoken for the first time on the decision by Kalonzo Musyoka to support ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Addressing the media at Multipurpose hall in Kitui after being cleared by the IEBC to vie for Kitui Women representative on the Wiper ticket, Kasalu reiterated that after their leader Kalonzo Musyoka rejoined the Azimio-One Kenya coalition, they will rally behind him. Kasalu revealed that as she campaigns for her seat, she will also sell Raila-Karua presidential ticket in Kitui.
“We are confident that Azimio will form the next government and after our leader, Kalonzo Musyoka dropped his presidential bid, we as Kitui Wiper MPs are willing to campaign for Raila in Kitui and Ukambani. Raila is the one who will take this country to the next level because together with Martha Karua they are leaders of integrity and corruption-free,” she said.
Kasalu also thanked Wiper Leader Kalonzo for being a good negotiator for the community adding that they are contented with what the Kamba community has been promised if Azimio wins in the August polls.
“Kalonzo negotiated for positions that will help the Kamba community and we are happy that our people will benefit when we are in Raila’s government, I call upon all Kitui residents to support me and support Raila Odinga for all of us to benefit,” Kasalu went on.
Kasalu promised the Kitui people that she will continue working for them if they will give her another five years in office.
“I have delivered and I will continue working for you Kitui residents and I’m confident that you will give me another chance to serve you,” Kasalu added.
She also thanked other women who are trying to unseat her and called them to hold peaceful campaigns without insults.
“Let’s do politics that will respect each other and let’s be a good example as women to show others that we can do mature politics without chaos,” she added.
