Kithimani Ward MCA Paul Mwanzia Muli has assisted residents from Kambi ya Ndeke to relocate to safer areas with their properties.
Speaking when rescuing the residents Muli said that over 200 families within Kithimani ward are homeless due to heavy rains across the country.
“Due to ongoing heavy rains all over the country, President Ruto should declare this as a national disaster,” Muli said.
The MCA further stated within Machakos County, Kithimani ward is the most affected by the heavy rains. He urged Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti to take action.
A resident from Kambi ya Ndeke Ndunge Mbolu said that all their property had been destroyed by the heavy rains.
“We are homeless, our properties are gone. We plead with Rutos government and governor Wavinya Ndeti for help,” She said.
The area assistant chief Timothy Mutua advised the residents living near rivers to relocate to safer areas like government schools.
